Management Strategy

· WBFDC Ltd., has been established as a Public Sector Undertaking and promotes conservation of natural resources in West Bengal along with sustainable use of these to achieve marketing goals. The international level of working standards is seen in all the units of the establishment, in all the activities like wildlife and forest protection, harvesting operations, regenerations and other activities ancillary to forest management. WBFDC Ltd., also promotes awareness within and outside for importance of conservation, environmentally sustainability, promoting policies and practices for the same and further involving local communities in achieving these goals through JFM. · The Corporation is a public sector undertaking under the administrative control of the Forest Department , Government of West Bengal.

· The Board of Directors is the highest policy making body of the Corporation. The Board has 11(Eleven) members consisting of politicians, high ranking Govt. Officials and eminent persons from different fields.

· Minister-in-Charge, Forest is the Chairman of the Board and Minister of State, Forest is the Executive Chairman.

· The Corporation has 8 (eight)divisions - 5 (five) in North Bengal, 2 (two) in South West Bengal and 1(one) in Kolkata. The Registered office of the Corporation is in Kolkata and General Manager(North)has an office in Siliguri.

· The 3 (three) Management Team Managing Director, who is an I.F.S Officer in the rank of Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, is the Chief Executive.

· He is assisted by two General Managers in Field operations - General Manager (Hqrs.) and General Manager (North). They are both I.F.S Officers in the rank of Conservator of Forests.

· The Finance and Accounts function of the Corporation is looked after by two professionals - one F.C.A and another A.I.C.W.A.

· The eight divisions of the Corporation are managed by Divisional Managers who are IFS/WBFS Officers.
